How to Build Trust, Strengthen Communication, and Laugh Together from Afar During COVID-19 Crisis

[ON-DEMAND WEBINAR] Weeks ago, we were sitting in meetings with coworkers, laughing with peers over lunch, and maybe even gearing up for a big presentation. Now, most of us are either working from home in self- isolation or risking our health and the health of our family when we go to work each day. Few could have predicted or prepared for how much life and work as we knew it would change in a matter of weeks. As we continue working in this new paradigm, it is more important than ever to consciously build and maintain strong relationships with our teams.

Your Voice Is Critical As Congress Wraps Up

As early as next week, Congress could vote on a final tax reform bill. The House and Senate have each passed different versions, and now both houses have appointed conferees to shape the final bill. Now is the time to contact your legislators, especially if they are Republicans, and urge them to support AHA’s advocacy positions on issues critical to the field, including protecting the individual mandate, access to tax-exempt bond financing and the interest expense deduction for debt, among other items.

Making the Case

Hospital leaders earlier this week came to Washington for an AHA-hosted Advocacy Day briefing that laid the groundwork for meetings with lawmakers on Capitol Hill. Front and center in those talks were our concerns about stopping the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services from moving forward with proposed regulations implementing “site-neutral” payment for new off-campus provider-based outpatient departments.

Nickels updates hospital leaders on legislation, AHA advocacy goals

This year’s wildly unpredictable presidential campaign and a truncated legislative calendar has Congress less active and more cautious than usual, AHA Executive Vice President Tom Nickels told AHA members today at the 2016 Annual Membership Meeting. Congressional leaders are looking ahead to 2017 and “see an opportunity to frame an agenda” that could include action on entitlement reform and the Affordable Care Act, he said.
