American Hospital Association President Emeritus Rich Umbdenstock will receive the association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award, at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting from May 7 to 10 in Washington, D.C. Kris Doody, CEO of Cary Medical Center in Caribou, Maine, and Daniel Gross, executive vice president of Sharp HealthCare in San Diego, will receive the AHA Board of Trustees Award for substantial and noteworthy contributions to the work of the association.

Rural hospital trustees meet in Phoenix
Uncertainty is the new normal for rural hospitals. Finding ways to see through that uncertainty and move forward successfully brought trustees and executives to the American Hospital Association’s Rural Health Care Leadership Conference last month.
Policy and governance were the themes at the Feb. 5-8 conference, which attracted health care leaders from across the country to the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa up against South Mountain on the edge of Phoenix.
