Connie Curran, R.N., Dies

Connie Curran, R.N., an advocate for nurse advancement and better patient care, died on Nov. 10 of cancer. Her multifaceted career included roles as the founding dean at the former Medical College of Wisconsin School of Nursing, chief nursing officer of Montefiore Medical Center and a vice president of the American Hospital Association as well as service on the boards of several Chicago-area hospitals, nonprofit organizations and corporations. Her passion for good governance extended to forming, with two others, Best on Board LLC, which provides health care governance education and certification. She also was the first executive director of C-Change, a national advocacy organization devoted to eradicating cancer, the editor of Nursing Economic$ and the author of more than 200 scholarly articles and research projects.
