Leadership Summit to offer new opportunities
Health care is constantly changing. At perhaps no time in our history has that been truer as science and technology converge to transform not only how we deliver care but how patients experience it.
How can health care trustees stay on top of these changes and help prepare for those that may lie around the bend? Education and networking are two of the most important tools at our disposal.
Fortunately, the American Hospital Association’s 25th annual Leadership Summit, to be held July 27-29 in San Diego, offers three days jam-packed with opportunities for both. This year’s theme, “Innovating in a Time of Change,” addresses the challenges of our times head-on with a roster of keynote speakers designed to stimulate thought and provoke discussion long after you return home.
New this year will be a dedicated “Trustee Track” of supplemental education and networking sessions designed just for hospital and health system trustees. The Trustee Track will connect the work of governance to the challenges of delivery system transformation. It also will provide one-on-one opportunities for trustees to dive deeper into emerging trends and best practices with governance and health care experts. Through peer-to-peer learning forums, board members will gain practical ideas to help them foster improved health and outcomes for the communities they serve.
The track’s flexible programming allows trustees to attend summit keynote sessions and engage with experts and peers. Topics include in-depth discussions of the board’s role in population health management, and how board members can act as stewards and catalysts to improve the patient experience of care.
You can also stop by the Trustee Resources Center for informal discussions with leading voices on quality and patient safety, innovation and board best practices. And you can bring your questions to our wrap-up breakfast, featuring an interactive clinic with governance expert Jamie Orlikoff, who will serve as the navigator for trustees throughout the track, facilitating translation of the critical issues addressed at the summit to best practices for boards.
