Trustees Share Messages with Rural Hospital Staff

From the moment the COVID-19 outbreak became reality, Coffey Health System (CHS) staff from every department hit the ground running. It wasn’t a question of if it would impact their small community of Burlington, Kansas, but when.

At a board of trustees' teleconference meeting last month, the CHS infection prevention team presented detailed plans for prepping staff, managing supplies — especially PPE — and caring for patients.

That’s when Jodi Thomas, CHS board chair, started thinking about how the trustees could show their appreciation to the CHS staff in a highly personal way. She collected personal, heartfelt messages from each of the board members and packaged it into a beautiful, inspirational video. And the response from the hospital staff was nothing short of amazing.
