Board Members: Industry Experts and Cross-Over Representation
Presbyterian Health Services, an integrated delivery system based in Albuquerque, NM, has included industry experts on its boards to infuse ideas and trends from other parts of the country. Two of their board members will share their perspectives on the value of outside board members, as well as cross-over board members who serve on both health system and health plan boards. George Isham, MD, Senior Advisor, HealthPartners and Senior Fellow, HealthPartners Institute for Education and Research, in Minneapolis, MN, and Cathy Eddy, President of the Health Plan Alliance in Irving, TX will share their insights from their work with Presbyterian.

Cathy K. Eddy is president of the Health Plan Alliance, an organization started by and for provider-sponsored health plans to help its members be more competitive in their individual markets by sharing a broader base of knowledge, identifying performance improvement methods, and offering insights into provider relationships. In addition to oversight of her own Board, Cathy has been a speaker and facilitator for numerous Boards. She joined the Presbyterian Health Plan Board in Albuquerque in 2005.
George Isham, MD is Senior Advisor, HealthPartners and Senior Fellow, HealthPartners Institute for Education and Research. As Senior Advisor for HealthPartners, Dr. Isham is responsible for working with the board of directors and the senior management team on health and quality of care improvement for patients, members and the community. He is also Senior Fellow for theHealthPartners Institute for Education and Research. Heprovides leadership to the board of directors for Presbyterian Health Services in Albuquerque and the External Advisory board of the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Dr. Isham is also a board member for Presbyterian Health Plan.
